You can delete your gonaija.net account yourself at any time: sign in, go to My Profile and choose Delete Account. To protect you, we ask for your password (if your account has one) and email a confirmation link to your account's email address; your account is deleted only when you open that link while signed in and confirm.
When your account is deleted, we delete your login details and sign you out everywhere, take down any properties you have listed, and remove your bookings from My Bookings. We then email you to confirm.
Records of bookings you have already made are not deleted with your account. We need them to provide your booking (tickets, changes and refunds), to deal with any dispute, and to meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations, so we keep them as described in section 9, no longer linked to your account.

Your gonaija.net account is run by us, not by a third party. Sign-in uses open-source software (Better Auth) that runs on our own servers, and your account details (name, email address, a securely hashed password and your sign-in sessions) are stored in our own database. They are not shared with the software's authors.
Payments are processed by Revolut, PayPal or Squad, depending on where you are and how you choose to pay. You enter your card or account details in the payment provider's secure form or page: we never see or store your full card number or security code. We receive from the provider what we need to confirm and manage your booking, such as the payment reference, amount, currency and whether the payment succeeded. We send the provider the amount, the currency and your booking reference, and for Squad also your name and email address.
Each provider handles your payment information under its own privacy policy: Revolut (Revolut Ltd), PayPal (PayPal (Europe) S.à r.l. et Cie, S.C.A.) and Squad (operated by HabariPay, part of the GTCO group). Refunds are returned through the same provider to the card or account you paid with.
To make a booking we must pass the traveller details to the companies that provide it. For flights, the passenger names, dates of birth, gender, passport details (where you give them), email address and phone number go through the Amadeus booking system to the airlines. Flights may be ticketed for us by a licensed ticketing partner, which then has access to the same booking: TravelUp for flights from the UK, and Wakanow for flights from Nigeria. For hotels, guest names and contact details go through the Travelport booking system or directly to the hotel. For properties listed by their owners, your booking request and contact details are sent to the owner. Each of these companies uses the details under its own privacy policy, and airlines may pass them to border and security authorities as the law requires.
Our website is hosted by Netlify, and our database and file storage by Oracle Cloud. Our emails are sent through Proton Mail. These companies process your data only on our instructions, to run these services.
After you pay for a booking, we may invite you to review us on Trustpilot. To do so we share your name, email address and booking reference with Trustpilot, so that your review can be shown as a verified customer review. Trustpilot handles this under its own privacy policy, and leaving a review is up to you.
The chat assistant on our website is powered by an AI model from Anthropic (Claude) or Google (Gemini). Messages you type in the chat are sent to that provider to produce a reply, so please don't share card details or passport numbers in the chat. For help with a booking, contact our team instead.
We retain your personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer retention period is required by law.
Booking and payment records, including the passenger and contact details on a booking, are kept for as long as we need them to provide the booking and handle any changes, refunds or disputes, and afterwards for as long as the law requires us to keep financial records (in the UK, generally six years). This applies even if you delete your account.
Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own. We ensure that such transfers comply with applicable data protection laws.
Our services are not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
